【摘要】:Theairreactivityratesareusedtoquantifythetendencyofacarbonartifacttoreactwithair.Carbonconsumedbythisunwantedsidereactionisunavailablefortheprimaryreactionsofreducingaluminatotheprimarymetal.Airreactivitydustingrateisusedbysomecompaniestoquantifythetendencyofthecokeaggregateorbindercokeofacarbonartifacttoselectivelyreactwiththesegases.Preferentialattackofthebindercokeorcokeaggregateofacarbonartifactbythesegasescausessomecarbontofalloffordust,makingthecarbonunavailablefortheprimaryreactionofreducingaluminaand,moreimportantly,reducingtheefficiencyofthealuminumreductioncell.Comparisonofairreactivityanddustingratesisusefulinselectingrawmaterialsforthemanufactureofcommercialanodesforspecificsmeltingtechnologiesinthealuminumreductionindustry.Airreactivityratesareusedforevaluatingeffectivenessandbeneficiationprocessesorforresearchpurposes.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthethermogravimetric(TGA)determinationofairreactivityanddustingofshapedcarbonanodesandcathodeblocksusedinthealuminumreductionindustry.Theapparatusselectioncoversasignificantvarietyoftypeswithvariousthermalconditions,samplesizecapability,materialsofconstruction,andproceduresfordeterminingthemasslossandsubsequentrateofreaction.Thistestmethodstandardizesthevariablesofsampledimensions,reactiontemperature,gasvelocityovertheexposedsurfaces,andreactiontimesuchthatresultsobtainedondifferentapparatusesarecorrelatable.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
