【摘要】:ThispartofISO5659specifiesamethodofmeasuringsmokeproductionfromtheexposedsurfaceofspecimensofessentiallyflatmaterials,compositesorassembliesnotexceeding25mminthicknesswhenplacedinahorizontalorientationandsubjectedtospecifiedlevelsofthermalirradianceinaclosedcabinetwithorwithouttheapplicationofapilotflame.Thismethodoftestisapplicabletoallplasticsandmayalsobeusedfortheevaluationofothermaterials(e.g.rubbers,textile-coverings,paintedsurfaces,woodandothermaterials).Itisintendedthatthevaluesofopticaldensitydeterminedbythistestbetakenasspecifictothespecimenorassemblymaterialintheformandthicknesstested,andarenottobeconsideredinherent,fundamental,properties.Thetestisintendedprimarilyforuseinresearchanddevelopmentandinfiresafetyengineeringofbuildings,trains,ships,etc.,andnotasabasisforratingsforbuildingcodesorotherpurposes.Nobasisisprovidedforpredictingthedensityofsmokethatmaybegeneratedbythematerialsuponexposuretoheatandflameunderother(actual)exposureconditions,norisanycorrelationestablishedwithmeasurementsderivedfromothertestmethods.Thistestprocedureexcludestheeffectofirritantsontheeye.Itisemphasizedthatsmokeproductionfromamaterialvariesaccordingtotheirradianceleveltowhichthespecimenisexposed.Inmakinguseoftheresultsofthismethod,itshouldbeborneinmindthattheresultsarebasedonexposuretothespecificirradiancelevelsof25kW/m2and50kW/m2.
