【摘要】:Secondarywastewatertreatmentusingactivatedsludgeisoneofthemostimportantbiologicaltreatmentprocessesinusetoday.Thesemi-continuousactivatedsludge(SCAS)testemploysactivatedsludgefromadomesticactivatedsludgeplanttoassessbiodegradationoforganiccompounds.TheSCASsystemprovidesahighpotentialforbiodegradationbecauseofthehighbiomasstochemicalsubstrateratio,theregularreinoculationwithavarietyofmicroorganismsfromthenaturalsewage,thepossibilityofco-metabolismbecauseofthevarietyoforganicsubstratespresentinsewageorsyntheticfeed,theopportunityforslow-growingmicroorganismstoberetainedduetothehighsludgeage,andalonghydraulicretentiontimetoincreaseselectionpressure.1.1Thistestmethodcoversproceduresforthedeterminationofthebiodegradabilityorremovability,orboth,ofnonvolatileorganicchemicals(Henry''sConstantx003C;10x2212;3atm/m3/day)usingalaboratorybenchscaletestandactivatedsludgefromadomesticwastewatertreatmentplant.1.2ThistestmethodisderivedfromaproceduredevelopedforsurfactantsbytheSoapandDetergentAssociation(1,2),onedevelopedforalkylbenzenesulfonatesbyASTM(seeTestMethodD2667)andonedevelopedbytheOrganizationforEconomicCooperationandDevelopment(OECD)forassessinginherentbiodegradation(3)andalsocodifiedintheToxicSubstancesControlActTestGuidelines(4).Forassessmentofvariability,replicatetestsystems(threeormore)shouldbeemployed.Itisrecommendedthatthetestsbeusedforchemicalcompoundsthatcanbewellcharacterizedwithrespecttochemicalandphysicalproperties.Testingofmixturesorfullyformulatedproductscanleadtoseriousproblemsindatainterpretations.1.3Theproceduresinvolvetheexposureofthetestchemical(s)toactivatedsludgemixedliquormicroorganismsoverafinitetimecycleinspeciallydesignedaerationchambers.Biodegradabilityisdeterminedfromdissolvedorganiccarbon(DOC)measurements,fromradiochemicalanalyses,orfrommeasurementsoftestchemicalconcentrationusingaspecificanalyticalmethod.BasedonDOCanalysesalone,biodegradationcanonlybeclaimedifotherremovalmechanisms(forexample,adsorption,volatility,orchemicaltransformation)arediscountedbymeansofspecifictestingorknowledgeofphysicalchemicalpropertiesofthetestchemical.Modificationsofthistestmethodforwaterinsolubleandmoderatelyvolatilechemicalsarepresentedinthistestmethodandprinciplesaredescribedinsomewhatmoredetailelsewhere(see5,6).1.4Theseproceduresmayalsobeusedasameansofacclimatingmicroorganismstoanorganicchemicaloveranextendedperiod.Theacclimatedmicroorganismsmaybeusedasaninoculumsourceforotherbiodegradationtests.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.ForspecifichazardstatementsseeSection7andinNote1.
