【摘要】:1.1ThispracticecoverstheevaluationandreportingofuniaxialstrengthdataandtheestimationofWeibullprobabilitydistributionparametersforadvancedceramicsthatfailinabrittlefashion(seeFig.1).TheestimatedWeibulldistributionparametersareusedforstatisticalcomparisonoftherelativequalityoftwoormoretestdatasetsandforthepredictionoftheprobabilityoffailure(or,alternatively,thefracturestrength)forastructureofinterest.Inaddition,thispracticeencouragestheintegrationofmechanicalpropertydataandfractographicanalysis.1.2Thefailurestrengthofadvancedceramicsistreatedasacontinuousrandomvariabledeterminedbytheflawpopulation.Typically,anumberoftestspecimenswithwell-definedgeometryarefailedunderisothermal,well-defineddisplacementand/orforce-applicationconditions.Theforceatwhicheachtestspecimenfailsisrecorded.TheresultingfailurestressdataareusedtoobtainWeibullparameterestimatesassociatedwiththeunderlyingflawpopulationdistribution.1.3Thispracticeisrestrictedtotheassumptionthatthedistributionunderlyingthefailurestrengthsisthetwo-parameterWeibulldistributionwithsizescaling.Furthermore,thispracticeisrestrictedtotestspecimens(tensile,flexural,pressurizedring,etc.)thatareprimarilysubjectedtouniaxialstressstates.Thepracticealsoassumesthattheflawpopulationisstablewithtimeandthatnoslowcrackgrowthisoccurring.1.4ThepracticeoutlinesmethodstocorrectforbiaserrorsintheestimatedWeibullparametersandtocalculateconfidenceboundsonthoseestimatesfromdatasetswhereallfailuresoriginatefromasingleflawpopulation(thatis,asinglefailuremode).Insampleswherefailuresoriginatefrommultipleindependentflawpopulations(forexample,competingfailuremodes),themethodsoutlinedinSection9forbiascorrectionandconfidenceboundsarenotapplicable.1.5Thispracticeincludesthefollowing:1.6ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandardperIEEE/ASTMSI10.
