【摘要】:Nitrogenisanutrientintheenvironmentandisnecessarytosustaingrowthofmostorganisms.Itexistsinseveralformssuchasnitrate,nitrite,organicnitrogensuchasproteinsoraminoacids,andammonia.Ammoniaisacolorless,gaseouscompoundwithasharpdistinctiveodor.ItishighlysolubleinwaterwhereitexistsinamolecularformassociatedwithwaterandinanionizedformasNH4+.TheextentofassociationorionizationisdependentonthetemperatureandpH.Itmayalsobetoxictoaquaticlife.Theextentoftoxicityisdependentuponspeciesandextentofdissociation.7Ammoniamayoccurinwaterasaproductofanaerobicdecompositionofnitrogencontainingcompoundsorfromwastestreamscontainingammonia.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthedeterminationofammonianitrogen,exclusiveoforganicnitrogen,inwater.Twotestmethodsareincludedasfollows:SectionsTestMethodA8212;DirectNesslerization7to15TestMethodB8212;IonSelectiveElectrode16to241.2TestMethodAisusedfortheroutinedeterminationofammoniainsteamcondensatesanddemineralizereffluents.1.3TestMethodBisapplicabletothedeterminationofammonianitrogenintherangefrom0.5to1000mgNH3N/Ldirectlyinreagentandeffluentwaters.Higherconcentrationscanbedeterminedfollowingdilution.Thereportedlowerrangeisbasedonmultiple-operatorprecision.Lowerlimitshavebeenobtainedbytwoofthetwelvelaboratoriesparticipatingintheroundrobin.1.4BothtestmethodsAandBareapplicabletosurfaceandindustrialwatersandwastewatersfollowingdistillation.Thetestmethodfordistillationgiveninhasbeenusedinthepasttomeetrequirementsforpredistillationofsamplesbeinganalyzedforammonia.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.6ThedistillationmethodnowappearsasAppendixX1andisprovidedasnonmandatoryinformationonly.Theautomatedcolorimetricphenatemethodhasbeendiscontinued.
