【摘要】:Thesetestmethodsprovideastandardizedproceduretomeasuretheeffectofimmersioninspecifiedfluidsunderdefiniteconditionsoftimeandtemperature.Theresultsofthesetestmethodsarenotintendedtogiveanydirectcorrelationwithserviceconditionsinviewofthewidevariationsintemperatureandspecialusesencounteredingasketapplications.Thespecifictestfluidsandtestconditionsoutlinedwereselectedastypicalforpurposesofcomparingdifferentmaterialsandcanbeusedasaroutinetestwhenagreeduponbetweenthepurchaserandthemanufacturer.1.1Thesetestmethodscoverthedeterminationoftheeffectonphysicalpropertiesofnonmetallicgasketingmaterialsafterimmersionintestfluids.ThetypesofmaterialscoveredareType1,Type2,Type3,andType7asdescribedinClassificationF104.Thesetestmethodsarenotapplicabletothetestingofvulcanizedrubber,aprocedurethatisdescribedinTestMethodD471.Itisdesignedfortestingspecimenscutfromgasketingmaterialsorfromfinishedarticlesofcommerce.Thesetestmethodsmayalsobeusedasapre-treatmentforMulti-LayerSteel,MLS,orMetalLayerGasketmaterialsadhesiontestingperTestMethodD3359.Thepre-treatmentofMLSorMetalLayerGasketmaterialspertainsonlyasapre-cursortotheadhesiontest.OtherphysicalpropertytestsdescribedinthisstandardarenotapplicabletoMLSorMetalLayerGasketmaterials.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Theinch-poundunitsinparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3RefertothecurrentMaterialSafetyDataSheet(MSDS)andanyprecautionarylabelingprovidedbythesupplierofanymaterialsreferredtointhesetestmethods.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
