【摘要】:Increasingattentionisbeingpaidtohumanexposuretoairbornechemicalsfromproductsormaterialsusedindoors,fortworeasons:5.1.1Individualsspendsubstantialfractionsoftheirtimeindoors.5.1.2Suchexposurescanoccurrepeatedlythroughoutonersquo;lifetime.Theprimaryobjectivesofthispracticeareasfollows:5.2.1Tolisttheelementsthatneedtobeconsideredindevelopingascenariotodescribehowexposureoccurstochemicalsemittedfromalkydorlatexinteriorpaints.5.2.2Todiscussproceduresandalternativesforchoosinganddescribingtheseelements.Elementsofanexposurescenario,inturn,areusedtopracticeasubsequentstepofestimatingexposuresthroughmonitoringstudiesorcomputermodelingexercises.Onceexposureshavebeenestimated,theresultscanbeusedtoassessthepotentialimpactsofaspecificpaintformulationonthehealthofexposedindividuals,ortocomparetherelativeimpactsofalternativeformulations.Estimationofexposures,orcomparisonsofestimatedexposuresacrossalternativepaintformulations,canleadtodevelopmentofenvironmentallypreferableproductsbyminimizingadversehealtheffectsforexposedindividuals.1.1Thispracticeprovidesproceduresforconstructingscenariosforassessmentofinhalationexposuretoairborneemissionsofchemicalsreleasedfromalkydorlatexpaintsthatareusedindoors.1.2Theindoorenvironmentscoveredinthispractice,intermsofconsiderationsfordevelopingexposurescenarios,areresidencesandofficebuildings.1.3Elementsoftheexposurescenariosincludetheproductandchemical(s)tobeassessed,theindoorenvironmentwheretheproductisapplied,applicationoftheproduct,chemicalemissionsduringandafterproductapplication,andlocation/activitypatternsofindividualswhomaybeexposedtotheairbornechemicalemissions.1.4Stepstobeperformedafterdevelopingexposurescenarios,suchasmonitoring,modelingandexposure/riskassessment,alsoaredescribed.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
