【摘要】:1.1Macroetching,whichistheetchingofspecimensformacrostructuralexaminationatlowmagnifications,isafrequentlyusedtechniqueforevaluatingsteelproductssuchasbars,billets,blooms,andforgings.1.2Includedinthismethodisaprocedureforratingsteelspecimensbyagradedseriesofphotographsshowingtheincidenceofcertainconditions.Themethodislimitedinapplicationtobars,billets,blooms,andforgingsofcarbonandlowalloysteels.1.3Anumberofdifferentetchingreagentsmaybeuseddependinguponthetypeofexaminationtobemade.Steelsreactdifferentlytoetchingreagentsbecauseofvariationsinchemicalcomposition,methodofmanufacture,heattreatmentandmanyothervariables.Establishmentofgeneralstandardsforacceptanceorrejectionforallconditionsisimpracticalassomeconditionsmustbeconsideredrelativetothepartinwhichitoccurs.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Seethespecificprecautionarystatementin5.3.
