【摘要】:Thetestresultsrepresenttheafterflameandafterglowtimes,inseconds,foramaterialundertheconditionsofthetest.Theafterflameandafterglowtimesandotherburningphenomenawillvarywiththickness.Testdatashouldonlybecomparedwithdataformaterialofcomparablethickness.Usefulinformationmaybeobtainedfromaplotofafterflameandafterglowtimesversusthickness.Theeffectofmaterialthickness,colors,additives,deterioration,andpossiblelossofvolatilecomponentsismeasurable.Theresultsserveasareferenceforcomparingtherelativeperformanceofmaterialsandcanbeanaidinmaterialselection.Inthisprocedure,thespecimensaresubjectedtooneormorespecificsetsoflaboratorytestconditions.Ifdifferenttestconditionsaresubstitutedortheend-useconditionsarechanged,itmaynotbepossiblebyorfromthistestmethodtopredictchangesinthefire-test-responsecharacteristicsmeasured;therefore,theresultsarevalidonlyforthefire-testexposureconditionsdescribedinthistestmethod.1.1Thesefire-test-responsetestmethodsdescribesmall-scalelaboratoryproceduresfordeterminingthecomparativeburningcharacteristicsofsolidplasticmaterialsthat,duetospecimenthinnessandnonrigidity,maydistortorshrinkwhentestedusingTestMethodD3801.Aflameisappliedtothebaseofspecimensheldinaverticalpositionandtheextinguishingtimesaredetermineduponremovalofthetestflame.1.2TheclassificationsystemdescribedinAppendixX1isintendedforqualityassuranceandthepreselectionofcomponentmaterialsforproducts.1.3Thisstandardmeasuresanddescribestheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnotbyitselfincorporateallfactorsrequiredforfirehazardorfireriskassessmentofthematerials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.Note18212;ThesetestmethodsandISO9773aretechnicallyequivalent.Note28212;Forrateofburningofnonrigidsolidplasticsinahorizontalposition,formerlyTestMethodBofthesetestmethods,seeTestMethodD635,section9.4.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecifichazardstatements,seeWarningin6.1.
