【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesameansformonitoringcorrosivityofenvironmentalteststhatinvolveexposuretocorrosivegases.Thistestmethodemploysaresistancemonitor(RM)probefabricatedfromachosenmetalconductor,withoneconductorsegmentuncoveredtopermitexposureofthechosenmetalconductortothecorrosivegasmixtureandthesecondconductorsegmentcoveredtoinsulatethemetalconductorofthissegmentfromexposuretothecorrosivegasmixture.Thecoveredconductorsegmentprovidesareferenceforevaluatingchangesintheuncoveredsegment.Theratiooftheresistanceoftheexposedsegmenttothatofthecoveredsegmentprovidesameasureoftheamountofmetalconductorwhichhasreactedwiththecorrosivegastestenvironmenttoformpoorlyconductingcorrosionproduct,thusprovidingameasureoftestcorrosivity.Resistancemonitoringisapplicabletoabroadrangeoftestconditionsbyselectionoftheappropriatemetalconductorandinitialresistancevalue.ThismethodissimilarinintenttoTestMethodsB808.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
